While we were rock climbing with Logan on Sunday, his mom Heidi turned to me and said, “so what are you and Ellie doing after this?” When I said that we’d probably go home and take naps, she countered with “Let me suggest an alternate plan.” It seems Logan’s dad Bert (a middle school science teacher) had an extra fetal pig (they come three to a bag – who knew?) and planned to dissect it for Logan in their back yard. Ellie and I couldn’t pass up this wonderful and strange opportunity.
Bert did a great job of getting Ellie and Logan interested in what they were going to see. “What do we use our mouths for?” “Let’s see how that works.”
Ellie was pretty squeamish about any actual cutting, but once the various organs were exposed was the first in line to look closer and touch things.
