Ellie and I had a super fun day today!
Our friend Dana works for Amazon, and therefore has been working stupidly crazy hours preparing for the holidays. But, she really wanted to play with her daughter Ainsley during this festive time. So Dana played hooky from work and they invited us to come along.
We started our day at the Barnes & Noble downtown. The girls had a great time looking through a bunch of books and playing with the train set. This was also a good time for them to just run around a bit since they were SO EXCITED to be spending the day together!
We then headed over to Nordstrom for breakfast. There’s a lovely cafe on the 4th floor, away from much of the Christmas shopper hustle.
After breakfast, we walked through the store and the girls found the three-way mirror which was tons of fun to dance in front of!
Now with the fuel of breakfast and the excitement of being together on this very special day, they were a handful. We got out of there before we could do any damage, but it was a bit embarrassing to have Ellie and Ainsley running around like, well, toddlers in Nordstrom. Dana and I decided that we weren’t really high-class enough for that place when we have kids in tow.
We ventured outside and noticed the line was forming for the carousel. It opened in just 10 minutes so we decided to wait in line.
The kids did pretty well waiting their turn although they were practically vibrating with anticipation and excitement.
Once we finally got on the carousel, they both had a great time. Ellie is an old hand on carousels, having ridden carousels at least six times before and having the time of her life each time. The last time Ainsley had been on a carousel was last year at this time when she didn’t really like it, but today she was trilled.
The ride was over too quickly.
Maybe we should go again? Or maybe twice more? YES!
After three, yes THREE carousel rides, Dana and I were dizzy (it’s hard going around in circles really fast while also trying to take pictures), and the kiddos needed their diapers changed, so we headed back to Nordstrom so we could take advantage of their lovely ladies lounge. The girls thought it was hilarious to roll around on the floor, and Dana and I were happy to let them spazz out while we rested a few minutes.
Lunch was next on the agenda. We walked a few blocks back to Pacific Place and had yummy sandwiches and pasta at Il Fornaio. By this time the girls were spent, so we headed home.
Since Dana and Ainsley couldn’t go home because of some construction that is happening at their house to get ready for Ainsley’s new sister (due in April), they came to our place for naps and more playtime.
They didn’t end up leaving until 6:00, which means the girls had a very full day. After dinner Ellie fell asleep almost immediately. Do you blame her?
