Ellie seemed to have a fine time on her birthday with just us, but we couldn’t celebrate turning one without a real party. We hosted a small gathering at our house on Sunday afternoon, which gave the girl plenty of opportunity to bounce around, charm everyone, and revel in adorableness.
We did attempt a cake massacre, but she seemed mostly content to pick off the frosting and wonder what all the fuss was about. With some cajoling, we did manage to encourage some of the icing into her hair and ultimately on her shirt. We’re helpful that way. We had a great time, and we enjoyed seeing everyone who came and watching the other kids dash around.
After everyone had left, we fed Ellie dinner, changed her, and gave her a bath. When I took her from the bath to the bedroom to put on pajamas, she motioned to her crib. I thought she wanted one of her stuffed animals, but as soon as she lay down she got into a sleeping position. She was asleep within probably 15 minutes, and this was at 7:30 – about an hour before she usually goes to bed!
(P.S. – Speaking of birthdays, happy birthday to Ellie’s cousin Lina, whose birthday is also February 5th!)
