Grandma Susan went home on Wednesday following a great, fun, and relaxing week. As I mentioned earlier, she hadn’t seen Ellie since February, and therefore the little girl got a lot of attention. On a few nights Ellie almost collapsed at the end of the day from so much playing.
One of their favorite things to do together was play “Patty Cake.” By the end of the week Ellie was patting on Susan’s hand. We’ve enjoyed keeping that up!
In addition to getting pampered, Ellie had some adventures, too. We all went to Bremerton for the Blackberry Festival and to visit with Aunt Lisa, Uncle Scott, and cousin Emma to see Lisa’s painting handiwork at their house. While we were there, Aunt Lisa propped Ellie up in a standing position against an activity center thingy and Ellie stayed there! Yep, with help, Ellie can now stand without her legs collapsing beneath her. Holy cow! I’m not sure we are ready for that.
It didn’t take much arm-twisting, but Grandma Susan was kind enough to watch Ellie one night so that Kim and I, and our friend Shannon, could go to a movie and out for dinner. We saw Pineapple Express (a goofy drug-induced action movie) and then went to Austin Cantina in Ballard, which is quickly becoming one of our favorite places. Not exactly a high-brow evening, but a great time.
